Description
North American's B-45 Tornado was the US Air Force's first operational jet bomber, serving as a tactical nuclear strike aircraft in Europe and as a strategic reconnaissance type bringing back intelligence from behind the "Iron Curtain". Most were scrapped in the late 1950s, but this example, now preserved, flew into the early 1970s as an engine test aircraft.
The artwork evokes a sense of dynamic motion and industrial ambiance with its abstract and smeared color application.
